Hardware Recommendations

Provision is fully web-based. It works on any phone, tablet, or computer running an up-to-date browser. No app installation is required.

Most teams run Provision on tablets on the floor, so the recommendations are based on criteria to look out for when deciding on tablets.

Factors we recommend looking out for:

• Operating System: The latest version of iOS or Android. Older OS versions may work but eventually experience performance issues.
• RAM: 8GB or more.
• Screen Size: 10 inches or larger. Smaller screens work, but a larger screen makes data entry faster and easier on the floor.
• Device Age: 2 years old or newer, from a manufacturer that will continue providing operating system updates for the foreseeable future. This keeps the device secure and compatible over the life of your rollout.
• Browser: Google Chrome, kept up to date. Other modern browsers (Safari, Edge, Firefox) work as well.

Affordable Options That Meet These Criteria:

• Samsung Galaxy Tab S10 FE (Android): 10.9" screen, 8GB RAM, and 7 years of OS updates from Samsung.
• Apple iPad Air 11" (iOS): 11" screen, 8GB RAM, with Apple's long track record of OS support.

A Few Other Things Worth Considering

• Protective Case: For production environments, a rugged or waterproof case is a worthwhile investment.
• WiFi Coverage: Confirm you have reliable WiFi in the areas where records will be completed. A strong device on a weak connection will still feel slow.
